We are proud to operate a portfolio of three AA accredited 5 star touring caravan campsites in the Peak District Northumberland and Edinburgh. All of these sites are award winning campsites.
Longnor Wood is generally considered to be one of the best campsites in the Peak District, with a choice of camping and touring facilities, hot tub lodges and caravans and glamping pods and additional amenities such as a gym, sauna and games room. As an award winning campsite Longnor Wood has received additional accreditation from external inspectors from the AA and third party listings such as campsites.co.uk.
The AA certainly think that Longnor Wood is one of the best campsites in the Peak District, with the site being awarded the prestigious title of AA campsite of the year Heart of England for 2024/25. The AA inspector said “Off the beaten track down a long drive and enjoying a secluded and very peaceful setting in the heart of the Peak District National Park, this spacious adults-only park is a hidden gem. Surrounded by meadows and beautiful rolling countryside and sheltered by woodland where there are walks to enjoy and lots of wildlife to observe. In 2022, the owners of AA 5-star rated Herding Hill Farm (camping and glamping) in Northumberland bought this park and have since invested in significant improvements, although they did keep the same management team. Guests can expect a warm, friendly welcome and a high standard to customer care. A large lodge has been transformed into smart games room with a professional-grade pool table, darts board and a selection of classic board games, and there’s also a modern, fully equipped gym. Recent developments include a sauna, available for the exclusive hire of two adults, and the luxury one-bedroom Chatsworth Lodges with hot tubs. The excellent facilities are well maintained and include a spotlessly clean amenity block with privacy cubicles, a good range of spacious hardstanding pitches (nine fully serviced), and high levels of security. Dogs are very welcome and there’s a dog wash and 4-acre dog walk.”
We were thrilled to receive two awards from the third party listing campsites.co.uk, reinforcing our position as one of the best 5 star touring caravan sites in Derbyshire. We retained the award for the Best Adult Only site, having previously won it in 2023, taking the East Midlands and overall titles. In addition, our 5 star touring caravan site was awarded Runner up for Best Caravan Park in the East Midlands. Recognised by campsites.co.uk as one of the best campsites in the Peak District, Longnor Wood was celebrated for its fantastic range of pitches, excellent location and range of facilities from a gym, games room and sauna. Campers are clearly big fans with a review rating of 4.8/5 from over 100 reviews and 94% of guests saying that they would recommend the site. One camper said: “This really was the best campsite we have ever stayed at”.
The 5 star touring caravan site was also recognized by Visit Peak District as one of the best campsites in the Peak District, Derbyshire and Derby with a Bronze Award at the 2024 tourism awards for best camping, glamping and holiday park.
